SPRING COLORS

Well here we are spring is in full bloom, literally. As my supplies of scrabp discarded metal have been depleted, I found myself wondering around my yard with my camera today. I noticed that everything is in bloom or coming close to blooming. The once dormant trees, shrubs and perennials that were subject to the grasp of old man winters icy choke hold, have come alive! There are reds, and whites, yellows and purples, pinks and orange. AMAZING! just a few short months ago i was wondering will they come back, did the harsh winter do them in? well here they are and it is no surprise they are her to please, not to mention the birds frolicking amongst them as well as butterflies and even hummingbirds. So what is the point of writing this? Well My supplies are low, as hard as I look to find discarded metal it seems there just is none to be found, but where I wonder like the trees and shrubs and perennials, will I find more discarded metal? I believe I will and when I do I will be at awe at the creations I will produce with them. so with that being said, writing with an optimistic heart I will post a few pics of the last Junk metal art piece I made, and some of the beautiful flowers that I found this afternoon. I wish you all a wonderful memorial day, and hope that it will hold a deeper meaning than hamburgers and hotdogs, that you will remember all that have served, giving of themselves, and those that gave all of themselves so we can have the freedom to start the grill and relax with family and friends.

JET UPDATE

Well as I stated I was upgrading the Jet i had made last fall out of furnace parts. As a project I just threw together it hung around outside all winter and the begining of the spring. I wanted to do something to spruce it up and give it a new look. so I primed it and painted it with copper paint. Here is a few pics of the new flight to nowhere as i called it last year when I made it.

right after i made te jet, not bad for scrap metal
i hung it out on the porch for a while
here it is with its copper upgraded paint

it is sort of "blingy" now

Thanks for looking

UPDATE: LOOKS LIKE THE JET HAS FOUND A NEW HOME IN MY GRANDSONS ROOM. I GUESS IT WILL BE HANGING FROM THE CEILING.

GOING FOR A STROLL

This is what I have decided to name today's junk art piece. Although hard to make due to much of the metal being Cast iron it worked out just fine. A decorative candle holder upside down for the dress, a spoon for the body and head, a few pieces of metal from a bike rack for arm and the umbrella pole, as well as a cover to something for the umbrella. I painted it black with clear coat. I also made a turkey out of an old pot belly stove lid holder, and some wire I had lying around. Thanks for looking and we will see what I can come up with soon. I hope to be able to find some discarded metal to inspire me.

CHIMING IN!

Time, as a noun states "the system of those sequential relations that any event has to any other, as past, present, or future; indefinite and continuous duration regarded as that in which events succeed one another."  Why would I post this? well for the simple fact that in a house with two gimps time seems to slip away, one thing leading to another, leaving unfinished business in its path of ignorance. and in the ignorance mothers day crept up on me like a lion in search of its next meal, Mothers day was no exception, I bought the card in advanced (which if your like me is like reading a book for two hours to find a card that has any sincere meaning) I have my plan for A surprise gift, not bought but hand made, and what happened, during mothers day I am Scrambling to finish the gift so it resembles somewhat of what i wanted it to be. All Chaotic doings aside, my wife loved it regardless of me finishing it in my usual incompetent way. the chimes are hung by string, not heavy test fishing line like i wanted, the hanger looks like a coat hanger someone wolf use in to hang a wrinkled shirt on, but they can be fixed, the main thrust is I did get it all together and it sounds beautiful( when there is wind) so here is a pic so you can see what a husband that mismanages his time will create. when it is done the way I like I will post an amended pic. I hope all mothers had a wonderful day and didn't get stuck with an  incomplete project like the one  gave my love of my life. All my best

SUNRISE

Well even on a busy day running around I managed to pull of a little "Junk Art" Here is a few 12 inch landscape spikes, a huge railroad washer, and some landscape material spikes, the pic is from my camera phone so it is not the best, but I am sure you get the gist of it.

More Metal

After an eventful day of visiting the doctor, and feeling sorry for myself (come on you know you do at times too!) Because I didn't hear the news I wanted to hear. Instead I was told I may need surgery on my back. So I ran, or as some would observe, "HOBBLED" to the place where I forget about things, the garage where my MIG welder is and a pile of discarded metal awaits!  Well here is what I made, it took some doing as I laid to rest "shovel dog" to get the shovel part, yes I am a cannibal, but i feel it is better suited for the crane I made. I hope you like it, it needs to be polished up a bit, Off to more doc visits woo hoo.
You have seen these around I am sure!

TEETER TOTTER

When an old faucet with no purpose, looks at me from the floor of the garage wheels start turning in my head, and yesterday that is what happened. Disassembled the faucet, looked at the parts, and then my mind creates an image of what all the parts could be. Here is what I came up with for this old discarded brass faucet. I actually had fun putting it together, thinking about children, having fun on the playground. who would of thunk a hot and cold shut off could be turned into a child. I hope someone out there at least likes it, but I think it is just a fun piece, and made the day of creating worth it. Looking forward to posting something new in the days to come, and hoping for some new and unusual discarded metal to come my way!

Yo have to admit , they do look like they are having a fun time.
